About Renner Ensemble Regensburg
The RENNER ENSEMBLE REGENSBURG, founded in 1987 by Bernd Englbrecht and named after composer Josef Renner Jr. (1868–1934), comprises singers trained at the Regensburger Domspatzen music high school. Hans Pritschet has led the choir since 2011.
Renowned for its versatility, the ensemble performs male choir works spanning medieval to contemporary vocal avant-garde. Tours have taken it across Europe, Asia, and South America.
The choir has won awards such as the German Choir Competition, BBC’s “Let the Peoples Sing,” and international prizes in Spain and Argentina. Honors include the Ernst von Siemens Foundation Prize, Regensburg's Cultural Promotion Award, and the Upper Palatinate District Cultural Prize.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2012, the ensemble earned praise for its tonal precision and dynamic range. Recent achievements include 3rd place at the 2015 International Male Voice Choral Festival in Cornwall and the 2018 Opus Klassik for its CD War no More.
