My channel has short informative videos for anyone who wants to learn about the Coronavirus pandemic, how the virus infects human cells and can cause disease. The lectures are tailored for anyone who is interested in learning more about immunology and virology even if they have taken no biology courses. I have several mini-lectures on the components of the immune system, how T and B cells get activated and become memory cells, ready to respond to a subsequent infection. I discuss therapeutic options including monoclonal antibody therapies that are currently being evaluated. There are a number of vaccine candidates in late stage clinical trials and there are likely to be several vaccines administered to people in 2021. The vaccines use different platforms that are RNA based, viral vectors, DNA based etc. I rely on my experience assessing immune responses to mosquito borne pathogens such as dengue and zika virus to make these videos.
