The Order of Malta Lebanon is an apolitical humanitarian organization whose sole agenda is to uphold the dignity of every human being. In a country that has been unstable for over 40 years, the Order brings together all communities by working across the Lebanese territory with all faiths and confessions, serving the forgotten people all the while respecting their differences. In each of its activities, the Order strives to provide the best expertise and talents in the fields of health and welfare, establishing a benchmark of excellence. The first centers of the Order were created during the war in the mid-1980s, in the most remote villages, to attend to and relieve the suffering of the forgotten. Today, the Orders actual network is made of 30 different operations established throughout the country, run in collaboration with congregations or foundations, targeted to serve the poor, the sick, the elderly, the disabled and the displaced regardless of their race, color or religion.
