About CHAMPS Health
Welcome to the official YouTube channel of the Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) network.
CHAMPS is an innovative, life-saving initiative funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The program collaborates with National Public Health Institutes (NPHIs), like the Manhiça Health Research Centre in Mozambique, where at least 79 out of every 1,000 children die before their fifth birthday, to generate and share knowledge that improves the understanding and prevention of child mortality. Although the child mortality rate has dropped significantly since 1990, children in developing countries are still dying at an unsettling number. CHAMPS’s goal is to significantly reduce this problem so that young lives are saved. To do this, the CHAMPS network will interpret and use data to develop policy recommendations that will inform government decision-making.
