Chasing the Northern Lights for more than 13 years, Melissa F. Kaelin is a writer, artist and stargazer. She has successfully caught the Aurora in three countries and four states, including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Alaska, as well as Iceland and the Northwest Territories of Canada. She founded the Michigan Aurora Chasers in January 2021, and also gives her time as one of the co-founders of the Aurora Summit: Celebrating the Art, Culture, Science and Photography of the Aurora in 2017. Melissa published the 2nd Edition of her book, "Beyond the 45th Parallel: The Beginner's Guide to Chasing the Aurora in the Mid-latitudes." Her insight, advice, and passion for the Northern Lights has united communities, created new workshops, and led thousands of beginners to catch the Aurora for the first time.
