Too Heavy to Hike — YouTube Channel Statistics

I am fulfilling a life long dream of through hiking the Appalachian Trail. I will begin my epic journey March 19, 2022. I understand only 25% of the 3,000+ hikers that begin their through hike will make it to Mt. Katahdin. The trek starts at Springer Mt. in GA then goes through 14 states with the northern terminus on Mt. Katahdin in Maine. The length of the trail is 2,193 miles and is over 5 million steps. The elevation gain is 89 miles equivalent to hiking Mt. Everest 16 times. The cards are stacked higher against me, I will be considered a senior on the trail as a I turn 55 just a few weeks into the journey. I am recently diagnosed with hypertension and Type 2 Diabetes. These extra issues all stem from the fact that I'm beyond plus size, heavy or even fat. At 360lbs I am borderline morbidly obese. The Appalachian trail is an opportunity to heal the mind, body and spiritual relationship with God. My goals are: Lose weight (100lbs+) Walk out of Diabetes Summit Mt. Katahdin
