Dr Azhar Alam ranks amongst the foremost names when it comes to Colorectal surgery in this part of the country, for almost a decade now. Over the years, he has to his credit more than a thousand successful surgeries, many of them often being recurrent and complicated cases from all over the country. He was recently conferred with the “Colorectal Surgeon of the Year” award by The Times of India for his path-breaking contribution in the field of Colorectal disorders, in the year 2022. He is amongst the first in Eastern India to have started Laser surgery for benign Colorectal disorders and is considered amongst the Pioneer Laser surgeons in the country today. Dr Azhar Alam is also a faculty for both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and is passionately involved in mentoring and training future generations of surgeons.
