Matthew Schwab is an adult thriving with Down syndrome who wants to help change the way the world views people with Ds. He is a North Carolina native who recently realized a life-long dream of living on his own, in an apartment with his younger brother. In addition to being a public speaker, Matthew works at Ruckus Pizza, Pasta & Spirits and is a community volunteer. Matthew serves on the Board of Directors for GiGi’s Playhouse Raleigh: a Down Syndrome Achievement Center and First in Families of NC. Matthew is passionate about raising awareness about Down syndrome and the entire IDD community. In 2019, he gave a TEDx talk about the importance of employing those with IDD and he continues to spread this message. In his free time, Matthew enjoys studying history and is learning to ballroom dance with his girlfriend.
